Not all Wordpress themes are created the same, and this was even more apparent as I was tasked with maintaining my bike club/team's site. Though most things were manageable, adding new posts and pages and uploading media, making any changes to the home page or navigation was a nightmare. The theme had custom templates for the homepage, and years and years of customizing and changing things left a lot of broken code.
I decided that not only would I update the theme to something more manageable, but I would redesign the site as well, bringing it a cleaner, more modern look, with simplified navigation.
The colors were already set for the site, red, white and grey, but it was a matter of how much of each to use, as well as deciding fonts and layout. The final design was done with Century Gothic, mimicking the feel of the club's logo.
