I empower businesses and marketers to create automated content systems that elevate sales and delight customers. Here’s how it works.
One of the projects I've most recently completed is the new website design for Speedworks Coaching.
Mark Orton, the owner and head coach at Speedworks, is my former cycling coach, and approached me with his need of a new site. The old site was built on Yahoo's platform and was extremely hard to keep updated all of the time. Mark's goals were to have a site that looked fresh and new, as well as use a content management site that he could update and maintain easily. He was also looking for some special features, such as allowing his athletes to update their own pages, and post their recent results.
As I almost exclusively use Wordpress for my client's websites, I pitched the idea as well as created a plan for the special requests and started working on the design. At first I created a few layout concepts, but decided to bin those and worked on a more finalized design to send to Mark. Once the design was finalized it was time to build the site.
Since the site's back end would be completely new, I worked with my web host, Lloyd Hosting, to create a temporary URL for the site, so that Mark could follow along with the progress of the build. I created the design on top of Headway Themes and then implemented the various features, such as an events management tool, athlete pages and user accounts and a way to host and display recent results both on main pages and for individual athletes.
Once the site was built and tested, it was a simple matter of changing the A record to point to the new Wordpress site, and the headaches of dealing with Yahoo's tools were over.
Here is the new look of SpeedworksCoaching.com
